Fall Party

Our fall party was an exciting time! The students in my class were very excited for the days pre and post our fall party. When the day finally came, they could hardly stand having to wait until the afternoon to have our party. Thank you to all the adult volunteers that came and helped out! I couldn't have done it without you.

Red Ribbon Week...

What a busy week we have had so far! We have been celebrating Red Ribbon week and being a drug and bully free school. The theme this year is "We Rule...We are a bully and drug free school." This week we have done several activities related to being drug and bully free. For today, Ms. Hay (our school counselor) issued a challenge to the entire school. The challenge was to wear more red than her. You will have to ask your student about Ms. Hay's red--she went all out! I had several students wear red today too; it was very neat to see them so excited about wearing red.

Health/Nutrition Visit...

We will have a nutritionist visit our classroom each month. Each time she comes we will exercise, talk about being healthy/healthy foods, and make a healthy snack. Also, she will give prizes to those students who did their nutrition homework and brought it back to school.

Our Field Trip...Fire Station #4

Today we went on our first field trip! We walked to Waterloo Fire Station #4. The students were so excited and quite the "troopers" going for this length of a walk. While we were there, they got to tour the "living quarters" of the firefighters. They also got to see and walk through the ambulance and firetruck. The children loved sitting way up high in the drivers seat of the firetruck. Before we left, we took a group picture by the firetruck with the firemen. As we were finishing our picture, the fire alarm went off. Although very hectic, because we needed to get all the children out of the way so they could leave for their fire call, it was very neat. It's not everyday when on a field trip you get to see the firemen hurry and get ready in all their gear, and the firetruck and ambulance leave the station in such a hurry. The students thought it was very neat to see them go so fast!
